The import of red sandalwood chessmen has been banned for years making this a rare opportunity. These are brand new chess sets that have never been used or played with. They have been safely stored safely for over ten years. The red sandalwood is one of the most beautiful woods ever used for chessmen. This red sandalwood on these pieces is a rich burgundy. The boxwood is beautifully grained and with a light amber color.The prominent feature of this set is its uniquely designed knight. The other pieces are purely traditional Staunton featuring an elegant profile. This is a large chess set wit a 4' tall king. The pieces are heavily weighted for superior balance and stability on the chess board when playing. The bottom of the pieces have black leather pads. There are two extra queens for pawn promotion.
