This chess set package includes our German Staunton Chess Set in rosewood boxwood and natural boxwood matched with our Classic Walnut and Maple Chess Board. Sometimes simple is best and that's true of our German Knight Staunton chess set with its simple but attractive design. Unencumbered by fine detail, these pieces will stand up to the rigor of everyday play year after year. Pieces are turned and carved by the world's most skilled craftsmen one piece at time and then individually hand polished with a solid lacquer to a beautiful luster. Pieces are weighted for stability and have thick green baize pads for a soft feel on the chess board.Our Classic Mahogany and Maple chess board is an excellent choice for matching with rosewood and boxwood chess pieces. The rosewood pieces have a rich burgundy-brown color that looks terrific standing on the warm orange-brown color of the mahogany. This is an inlaid chess board with the finest wood veneers and is handcrafted to exacting standards. The board is sealed in a satin polyurethane finish to protect the wood. An extra wide frame adds substantial size to the chess board and provides enough room for sitting captured pieces while a black inlay border creates a sharp delineation surrounding the playing area. The squares are 1.5' and the board measures 15' overall.
