Ty Cobb has signed the panel of this 1947-51 Spalding Ford C. Frick Official National League baseball. The original Hit King has signed not in his trademark green ink but in blue. Like many signed balls from this time period, the ball has been coated with shellack. The coating has darkened with age and there are several areas of discoloration on the surface, including one which is visible over the 'Ty C' of the signature. Despite this discoloration Cobb's signature is easily read. Please refer to the high resolution photos for reference.
