Shiraishi Kazuya ( Sea of Revival ) delves into the precious but sometimes cruel bond that is family in the human drama One Night . The film is based on the same-titled stage production by the Kuwabara Yuko-led theater company Kakuta. Tanaka Yuko, Satoh Takeru ( Rurouni Kenshin ), Suzuki Ryohei ( A Forest of Wool and Steel ) and Matsuoka Mayu ( Shoplifters ) form a family that was shattered after a case that happened 15 years ago. One rainy night, Koharu (Tanaka Yuko) killed her husband. Only then can her three children be happy, she believed. Fifteen years later, she reunites with her children oldest son Hiroki (Suzuki Ryohei), second son Yuji (Satoh Takeru) and daughter Sonoko (Matsuoka Mayu) who parted ways and grew up separately into adults whose wounds never healed.
