Set in the tumultuous times of early Republic-era China, TVB historical drama In the Chamber of Bliss centers on the poignant love story between legendary warlord Choi Ngok and famous courtesan Siu Fung Sin amidst the political turmoil during Yuen Sai Hoi's rise to power. Despite being much older than the historical figures they portray, Damian Lau and Kathy Chow deliver vibrant and convincing performances as the star-crossed lovers whose heroic deeds proved crucial in changing the course of history of the nation. Joining the veteran stars is a solid supporting cast that includes Kenneth Ma, Dominic Lam, Angela Tong, Toby Leung, Crystal Tin, and Law Lok Lam. In 1913, President Yuen Sai Hoi (Law Lok Lam) orders Yunnan-based Military Governor Choi Ngok (Damian Lau) to Beijing in a bid to get the latter's support for his administration. Knowing that Yuen harbors ambitions to usurp power and proclaim himself Emperor, Choi pretends to comply. In the capital, Choi meets courtesan Cheung Fung Wan (Kathy Chow) who goes by the stage name of Siu Fung Sin. Their common patriotic ideals give rise to mutual admiration, but Choi's commitment to wife Bak Sze Ting (Crystal Tin) keeps his feelings for Sin at bay. Things take a dramatic turn, however, when Yuen takes Choi's wife and child hostage to threaten him into submission. Choi then controversially ditches his family for Sin while secretly plotting to overthrow Yuen with the help of his student Yu Yam Kwok (Kenneth Ma) and rebels like Mok Ching Yee (Toby Leung), daughter of Yuen's lieutenant Mok Yik Tin (Dominic Lam)...
