Based on a popular online novel, Missing won Best Visual Effects at the Jaipur International Film Festival. Many people have gone missing while hiking in a certain mountain in Sai Kung, Hong Kong. Among them is Sit (Ko Hon Man), a police officer who called his colleague Nam (JJ Jia) for help before disappearing seven years ago. Urban legend says that the mountain holds a portal to the otherworld of spirits. Sit's daughter Ying (Gillian Chung), a social worker, firmly believes that her father is still alive, and her ongoing grief has created a rift with her mother (Candice Yu), who moved on a long time ago. One day, hiking expert Yin (Joey Leung) finds Sit's badge in the mountains, fueling Ying's hope for her father's return. She goes into the mountain with Ying and Nam, and soon they lose their phone signal. As they wander the forests, they cross paths with Ying's unstable neighbor Ching (Ling Man Lung), a stressed-out salaryman who brought his dementia-stricken mother (Josephine Koo) to the mountain.
