Touch of the Light and Partners in Crime director Chang Jung Chi brings audiences into the hot-blooded world of Taiwan high school basketball in the coming-of-age sports drama We are Champions . Chang, who co-directed the Golden Horse-winning youth soccer documentary My Football Summer back in 2006, takes care to construct a realistic depiction of the training, competition, skills and aspirations of high school athletes. New-generation actors Fandy Fan ( HIStory2: Crossing Line ) and Berant Chu ( How to Train Our Dragon ) play brothers on rival school teams, characters inspired by real-life basketball players. Raised in a tough environment, brothers Hsiu Yu (Fandy Fan) and Tong Hao (Berant Chu) have nothing besides basketball and each other. Because of a street basketball game, their lives begin to change. Younger brother Tong Hao gets scouted into a top-ranked high school basektball team and becomes a star player. Older brother Hsiu Yiu plays for a struggling team that faces the threat of disbanding.
