Wong also directed the third film in the unofficial series, The Truth , in 1988. Intelligent and compelling, Law or Justice? sees Carol Cheng giving a standout performance as a strong-minded lawyer, along with familiar luminaries Alex Man, Joey Wang, Prudence Lau, Lam Chun Yin, and Ti Lung. Lawyer Yip Wing (Carol Cheng) often clashes with her boyfriend, high-ranking police officer Fong Wai (Alex Man), because of their jobs. Both dedicated to their professions, they sometimes find it hard to understand each other's position in the justice system. Their relationship hits rocky waters when Yip helps her client Tin (Lam Chun Yin), a photographer charged with rape, go free. Fong was in charge of Tin's case, and both he and victim Joey (Joey Wang) are upset with the court's verdict. Joey's rebellious sister San San (Prudence Lau) decides to get revenge for her sister and spikes Tin's drink with drugs. The plan backfires, however, and she tragically falls victim to Tin as well.
