Following 2013's Firestorm which featured the explosion of Hong Kong's Central district, Andy Lau is once again called upon to save the city from a terrorist attack in the action thriller Shock Wave , for which he also served as producer. Andy Lau stars as bomb disposal expert JS Cheung, the top officer of the Hong Kong Police Force's Explosive Ordnance Disposal Bureau. Years ago, he was embedded in robber Blast's (Jiang Wu) criminal gang and helped to put his brother in jail. Blast, however, got away and now he's back with a vengeance to settle old scores. Blast and his heavily armed gang plant massive explosives in the Cross-Harbour Tunnel and take everyone in the tunnel hostage, creating a nerve-wracking standoff on one of the city's busiest thoroughfares. As the hours tick down and casualties rise, Cheung must put everything on the line to thwart a deadly disaster. Directed by Herman Yau, Shock Wave co-stars acclaimed Chinese actor Jiang Wu ( A Touch of Sin ) as the antagonist, TVB star Ron Ng as a bomb disposal officer, and Song Jia ( The Final Master ) as Cheung's girlfriend. The supporting cast is filled with Hong Kong cinema veterans and stalwarts including Philip Keung, Felix Wong, Babyjohn Choi, Louis Cheung, Liu Kai Chi, Shek Sau, Felix Lok, Ken Lo, Tony Ho, Wan Yeung Min and Michael Tong. Besides delivering blockbuster action movie thrills, Shock Wave reveals interesting aspects of bomb disposal, including dangers particular to Hong Kong.
