Director Shin Sang Ok's 1958 film noir The Flower in Hell revolves around the love triangle and vengeful relationships between Sonya (Choi Eun Hee), Young Sik (Kim Hak) and Dong Sik (Jo Hae Won). After the Korean War, Young Sik lives in a camptown near the American military base. His brother Dong Sik comes to Seoul to find him, but Young Sik refuses to go home with him because he wants to earn money and marry his girlfriend Sonya. Attracted to Dong Sik, Sonya seduces him at a party, and reports Young Sik to the military police so that she can run away with her new love. Choi Eun Hee was recognized as Best Actress at the 2nd Buil Film Awards for her performance.
