Legendary Hong Kong actor Ti Lung plays the grandfather of a bratty 12-year-old girl from New York in the Malaysian family film The Kid from the Big Apple . Directed by Jess Teong and executive produced by Vivian Hsu, the warm and comedic drama explores generation and cultural gaps and the values and love that tie families together. Sarah (Chen Qin Lin) grew up in New York with her mother (Jessica Hsuan). However, due to work obligations, Sarah's mother has no choice but to leave her in Malaysia to stay with Grandpa (Ti Lung) for a while. For Sarah, this is like a punishment worse than death, and Grandpa also doesn't know how to handle his arrogant English-speaking granddaughter at first.
