Fantasy action-adventure Legend of the Naga Pearls is the first film to make use of the setting and mythology of Novoland, a fictional ancient world created by a group of Chinese writers whose novels have already inspired multiple TV dramas. Television director Yang Lei, who previously helmed the TV series Novoland: Castle in the Sky , makes his silver screen debut with a new story about the Winged Tribe, a race of people capable of flight. Rising stars Darren Wang ( Our Times ) and Crystal Zhang ( I Belonged to You ) take the lead roles in this Gordon Chan-produced fantasy spectacle, while Simon Yam plays the vengeful villain in a special appearance. After being defeated in battle by humankind, wingkind gradually lost the ability to grow wings and fly. Xue Lie (Simon Yam), a vengeful royal descendant of the Winged Tribe, is searching for the Naga Pearls, whose magical powers can wreak destruction on humans. In his search, Xue Lie and his henchmen cross paths with righteous wingkind constable Hei Yu (Crystal Zhang), na ve human prince Gali (Sheng Guansen) and waggish street thief Ni Kongkong (Darren Wang), who harbors great powers that even he doesn't realize. Thrown together unwittingly by a series of dangerous run-ins, the three team up to thwart Xue Lie's nefarious plans.
