Inspired by a real-life story shared on Twitter, the moving film Dad's Lunch Box shows how a simple lunch box connects parent and child. Music video director Fukatsu Masakazu's first narrative feature debut follows a single father (Watanabe Toshimi) who prepares lunch boxes every day for his daughter (Takeda Rena) over her three years of high school. On the last day of high school, she opens her lunch box as usual, and inside she finds a photo of the first lunch box her father prepared for her three years ago. On the back of the photo is a letter from her father.
