Music opens up a new world for a troubled gangster and a gifted songwriter in the comedy-drama Concerto of the Bully . Directed by Fung Chih Chiang ( The Bounty ), the Hong Kong film stars Ronald Cheng ( The Four ) and Cherry Ngan ( The Way We Dance ) as a small-time criminal and a kidnap victim who develop an unlikely bond with each other through music. Also co-starring Chrissie Chau, Philip Keung and Michael Ning, Concerto of the Bully was nominated for four awards at the 37th Hong Kong Film Awards, including Best Actor for Ronald Cheng, and won Best Original Film Song. Hopelessly angry and aggressive hooligan Yung (Ronald Cheng) likes things that have a rhythm, such as music and fighting. The only remedy that soothes his outbursts is a mysterious unfinished demo track by an internet songwriter. His boss orders him to watch over kidnap hostage Jamie (Cherry Ngan), the girlfriend of a celebrity, and to keep her captive on a fishing platform in the middle of the sea. Much to Yung's surprise, it turns out that Jamie is the writer of the demo song. Jamie uses music therapy to calm down Yung and the two forge a curious bond. Amid this absurd situation, Jamie discovers that Yung has an amazing singing voice and finds the inspiration to finish writing her song.
