In 1971, Nikkatsu launched its iconic Roman Porno film series and then steadily churned out hundreds of softcore films throughout the 70s and 80s. The series elevated pink films to a new level of profile and popularity with both commercial audiences and critics. To mark the 45th anniversary of Roman Porno, in 2016 the studio commissioned five films for the Roman Porno Reboot Project, with each filmmaker revisiting and reinterpreting the genre in his own way for the present day. Director Shiota Akihiko ( Dororo ) uses a light tone to depict the unfettered attraction between man and woman in Wet Woman in the Wind . Playwright Kosuke (Nagaoka Tasuku) takes up residence in the mountains in order to escape the city and women. Instead, he encounters the vivacious Shiori and falls into a whirlpool of lust and desire.
