Cream Soda & Milk is not only a popular beverage in Hong Kong, it's among the most memorable movies made during the Hong Kong New Wave. Directed in 1981 by Rachel Zen ( Life Goes On ), the acclaimed drama offers a realistic, emotional yet thought-provoking depiction of how the society, the school and the family shape the development of children. The main storyline revolves around Ding Ling and her younger brother Ding Dong. Separated at a young age when their parents divorced, Ling followed her mother to live abroad, while Dong stayed with his sick father (veteran actor Wu Fung). Years later, Ling (Lee Yin Yin) becomes a teacher, and she returns to Hong Kong looking for her family. Through her social worker boyfriend (Eddie Chan), Ling meets a resentful young punk (Yim Chau Wah) who not only looks like Dong, but is also fond of drinking cream soda with milk like her long-lost brother. Beloved singer/actress Deannie Yip's turn as an old prostitute won her Best Supporting Actress her first acting accolade at the Golden Horse Awards, which also nominated Yim Chau Wah for Best Actor. First Press comes with a postcard, only available while supplies last.
