All hell breaks loose when a cold-blooded warlord arrives in a small village in the period action thriller Call of Heroes starring Sean Lau Ching Wan, Louis Koo, Eddie Peng and Wu Jing. Set in the early 20th century when China was rife with turmoil and civil warfare, the action-packed blockbuster follows the deadly events that unfold when a militia captain tries to bring a murderous warlord to justice. Directed by Benny Chan ( The White Storm ), Call of Heroes builds on the vicious tension with blistering action choreographed by Sammo Hung. Whip-wielding militia captain Yang (Sean Lau) has guarded his remote hometown of Pucheng for years, and he alone now stands between the village and the ruthless troops of warlord Cao Ying who has been wreaking death and destruction in the region. One morning, Cao's son Cao Shaolun (Louis Koo) saunters into Pucheng and kills a few villagers. Yang captures Shaolun with plans to execute him after trial, but Zhang (Wu Jing), a colonel in Cao's army, soon storms into Pucheng to retrieve the prisoner. Meanwhile, wandering martial artist Ma (Eddie Peng), an old friend of Zhang, also happens to pass by Pucheng and rides right into the volatile conflict. As the situation escalates, Yang is given a deadline to either voluntarily release Shaolun or risk the lives of the entire village.
