Notoriously loud and outspoken Taiwan metal band Chthonic takes their rebellious antics to the silver screen in the rock-infused action comedy Tshiong . The band members are joined by Emerson Tsai ( You Are the Apple of My Eyes ) as protagonist A-Tek, a small-town guy who dreams of fighting the man alongside the band. To stop capitalist encroachment into his rural hometown, the hot-blooded young man travels from the south to Taipei in hopes of gaining Chthonic's support for his protest. When he finds the band, he realizes that the members are not as defiant and idealistic as their song lyrics. Filmed mostly in the Taiwanese dialect and filled with local cultural references, Tshiong is directed by Cheng Wen Tang, who is known for more serious fare like Tears and Maverick .
