The Troublesome Night formula of episodic scares continues in the iconic Hong Kong horror film series' third installment, which is again directed by Herman Yau. Besides series regulars Louis Koo, Simon Lui, Allen Ting and Law Lan, Troublesome Night 3 's ensemble cast includes Fennie Yuen, Vincent Kok, Lee Lik Chi, Michael Tse, Chin Ka Lok, Shing Fui On, Natalie Wong, Emotion Cheung and Christine Ng. One night, mortician Shishedo (Allen Ting) runs into a singer he likes on the street. He happily takes a picture with her, only to later find that she doesn't appear in the photo. At this time, he hears news of her passing in a car accident. Unqualified Taoist priest Cheung (Simon Lui) charges Gigi (Christine Ng) a sky-high price to conduct a funeral ritual for her mother (Law Lan). Afterwards, he keeps encountering spirits and strange incidents. Lik (Louis Koo) works at a coffin shop and has long had a crush on mortuary makeup artist Hung (Fennie Yuen).
