Directed by mo lei tau comedy master Jeff Lau, the Hong Kong comedy 92 Legendary La Rose Noire plays on the legend of Black Rose, masked vigilantes who steal from the rich and give to the poor in Chor Yuen's 1965 film The Black Rose . Tony Leung Ka Fai, Maggie Shiu and Teresa Mo star in this 1992 comedy that amusingly blends nostalgia, thrills and laughs. Tony Leung and the legendary Fung Bo Bo won Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress, respectively, at the 12th Hong Kong Film Awards for their performances. Writer Butterfly (Maggie Shiu) and her friend (Teresa Mo) sneak into a home and accidentally witness a drug deal and gang murder. While leaving the scene in a hurry, they leave behind a Black Rose note, like in the old movie, to divert police attention away from them. Unexpectedly, this brings a new set of troubles when Black Rose's apprentices Piu Hung (Fung Bo Bo) and Yim Fan (Wong Wang Sze) appear to abduct Butterfly.
