In 2010, Japanese public broadcaster NHK produced the controversial television drama Second Virgin , about a 45-year-old woman's affair with a married man 17 years younger than her. After its record-breaking run, writer Oishi Shizuka and series co-director Kurosaki Hiroshi reunite for Second Virgin the film. Both a continuation and an alternate version of the original story, the Second Virgin film reunites Suzuki Kyoka ( Flowers ), Hasegawa Hiroki ( Kaseifu no Mita ), and Fukada Kyoko ( Yatterman ) for the film's central romantic triangle. Like the television series, the film version of the show also features a taboo-breaking romance and provocative sex scenes. 45-year old Nakamura Rui (Suzuki Kyoka) is a successful publisher who falls in love for the first time since her divorce many years ago. However, the man she falls in love with is Suzuki Ko (Hasegawa Hiroki), a married man 17 years her junior. After overcoming various obstacles in their relationship, Ko leaves his wife Marie (Fukada Kyoko) to live with Rui, only to suddenly disappear one day without a reason. Five years later, Rui goes to Malaysia for a business trip and is reunited with Ko. Soon after their passion is re-ignited, a tragic event threatens to drive them apart once again.
