Charlene Choi embarks on a journey of self-discovery and sexual awakening in The Lady Improper , directed by 2012 Hong Kong Film Awards Best New Director winner Jessey Tsang ( Big Blue Lake ). Choi was nominated for Best Actress at the HKFA for her performance as a sexually and emotionally repressed divorcee opposite award-winning Taiwan actor Chris Wu Kang Jen ( Scoundrels ) in his first Hong Kong film. Perennially stressed and unhappy gynaecology nurse Siu Man (Charlene Choi) is forced to divorce her husband (Deep Ng) because of her fear of physical intimacy. After her father (Lau Wing) collapses, she takes over running the family's struggling diner. Chia Hao (Chris Wu), a free-spirited chef from Taiwan, soon joins the diner staff. Chia Hao wants to recreate Siu Man's father's signature dishes that he remembers from childhood. In the sweating hot kitchen, he piques Siu Man's interest in cooking and awakens a desire that she had never felt before. This edition comes with the director's cut of the film.
