Dangerous criminal Han (Wallace Chung) gets rushed to her hospital with a bullet in his head. Though conscious and collected, his condition is critical and Tong insists on operating right away. Han refuses to undergo surgery unless he gets his phone call, but steely scheming detective Chen (Louis Koo) squares off against both Tong and Han to block the call. As the clock ticks down, Chen makes sideline maneuvers to shield the fellow officer who shot Han, Tong pushes forward with her desire to operate no matter what, and Han plots his escape while glibly taunting Chen and Tong to a breaking point.
