Writer-director Hirose Nanako, a prot g of Kore-eda Hirokazu and Nishikawa Miwa, makes her debut with His Lost Name . Exploring themes of family and deception, the drama stars Kobayashi Kaoru ( Midnight Diner ) as a carpenter who takes in an enigmatic youth portrayed by Yagira Yuya ( Nobody Knows ). His Lost Name premiered at the 2018 Busan International Film Festival and received a Special Mention at the 19th Tokyo Filmex. Tetsuro (Kobayashi Kaoru) runs a woodworking shop in a small town. One day, he comes upon a collapsed youth (Yagira Yuya) by the river. He takes in this mysterious young man who shares the same name, Shinichi, as his late son. Tetsuro teaches Shinichi woodwork, and the two gradually develop a father-and-son-like relationship. But then rumors about an incident that happened in town a few years ago begin to spread.
