Category : EntertainmentHelp Me Eros (DVD) (Hong Kong Version)Price: USD14.99 At the 2007 Venice International Film Festival, two Taiwan films among the films in competition caused considerable controversy thanks to their graphic and explicit erotic content: Ang Lee's Lust, Caution , and the less glamorous, but still skillfully shot Help Me Eros by Lee Kang Sheng. In his second directorial effort, Lee stars as Jie, a stockbroker who has lost everything in the financial turmoil. He has resorted to a junkie lifestyle, growing and smoking marijuana at his bare, sealed home. What keeps this broken man from committing suicide is a volunteer (Liao Hui Chun) at the counseling hotline he indulgently calls, whose sweet, tender voice gives him much to fantasize about. Jie also seeks solace from the carnal relationship he strikes up with the sultry girl (Yi Hsin) next door. Obviously, it was the sensational sex scenes that made Help Me Eros talk of the town, but the film does have substance below its sensual surface to justify its winning the Best Film at the Gijon International Film Festival and the special jury award at the Bangkok World Film Festival. Even Tsai Ming Liang, Lee's mentor and the film's executive producer, proudly gave it his stamp of approval.Other products from YesAsia |
