International action superstar Jackie Chan tries his hand at romantic comedy with Gorgeous ! Directed by Vincent Kok, this 1999 film stars the beautiful Shu Qi ( So Close , Seoul Raiders ) as Bu, a Taiwanese country girl looking to add a little excitement to her life. One fateful day, Bu's life is changed dramatically when she discovers a message in a bottle. The romantic note inside motivates her to pack up and head for Hong Kong in search of Albert, the writer behind the message. When she arrives in Hong Kong, Bu finds Albert (played by the great Tony Leung Chiu Wai), but is shocked to learn that he's actually gay! Despite this romantic setback, things heat up in the relationship department for Bu when she meets up with C.N. (Jackie Chan), a womanizing millionaire constantly at odds with L.W. (Emil Chau), a grudge-bearing former classmate. To impress C.N., Bu finds herself plotting a complicated ruse with Albert and his friends in the hopes of convincing C.N. that she's actually involved with an infamous Taiwanese gangster! Of course, a romance eventually blossoms between C.N. and Bu, but it's one that's not without its problems. Will C.N. be able to overcome his own bad habits and pursue the woman who stole his heart? And if romantic problems weren't enough for C.N., plenty of high-kicking action erupts when the dastardly L.W. hires a martial artist to humiliate his more popular rival! At the end of the day, is C.N. a lover or a fighter? or both?
