Takeshi Kaneshiro and Zhou Dongyu turn on the charm for the quirky romantic comedy This Is Not What I Expected produced by Peter Chan. Film editor Derek Hui, who has worked on Chan's Dearest , Wu Xia and Warlords , makes his directorial debut with this delicious and whimsical love story about a fastidious hotel president who meets his match in an unpredictable chef. Taiwan stars Yo Yang ( The Crossing ) and Lin Chi Ling ( Red Cliff ) also appear in the film. Lu Jin (Takeshi Kaneshiro), the exceedingly nitpicky and standoffish president of an international corporation, arrives at Rosebud Hotel to conduct research for an acquisition, but nothing at the hotel meets his standards. Just as he's about to leave, he has a dish prepared by sous chef Gu Shengnan (Zhou Dongyu), and is blown away by the taste. Lu Jin decides to stick around and keep ordering from Shengnan, who comes up with a dazzling assortment of dishes around the clock. The two begin to develop a bond via food, but little does Lu Jin know, Shengnan is actually the messy, bumbling girl he keeps having ridiculous run-ins with.
