Wu Jing leads an all-star cast to ascend Mount Everest in the adventure drama The Climbers . Directed by Daniel Lee and produced by Tsui Hark, the real-life-based film depicts two Chinese expeditions to reach the world's highest peak in 1960 and 1975. Wu Jing plays a character based on Wang Fuzhou, one of the first Chinese mountaineers to reach the summit of Mount Everest through the north ridge route. Released in 2019 during China's National Day holidays, the exhilarating film co-stars Zhang Ziyi, Zhang Yi, Jing Boran, Hu Ge, Wang Jingchun and Chen Long, as well as Jackie Chan in a special appearance. In 1960, Chinese mountaineers Fang Wuzhou (Wu Jing) and Qu Songlin (Zhang Yi) became the first ever to successfully reach the summit of Mount Everest from the north side. However, due to inadequate image data from the peak, their magnificent feat is not recognized internationally. Fifteen years later, Fang and Qu assemble a new expedition that includes meteorologist Xu Ying (Zhang Ziyi) and young mountaineers Li (Jing Boran) and Yang (Hu Ge) to challenge the summit again.
