Based on a true story, Hibi marks the big screen debut of Kubozuka Shunsuke, younger brother of Kubozuka Yosuke. He plays the son of a famous artist, who then suffers a terrible tragedy. Tanaka Yuko stars as Kamiyama Kiyoko, who was born in a small town called Shigaraki, famous for its ceramics. Over the years she develops her own style and becomes a respected potter in the local community. She has a young son, Kenichi, who also displays an interest in ceramics from an early age. However, just as he begins to establish himself as an artist he becomes sick with Leukemia. As he battles to overcome his sickness his mother strives to set up a bone marrow clinic to save his life.
