Hong Kong action star Michael Chan Wai Man has appeared in over a hundred films since the early 1970s. In his extensive filmography, there is one film for which he takes directorial credit (with help from Shaw Brothers director Sun Chung) besides a starring role, and that is Gangland Odyssey from 1990. Filled with stunning fight scenes and complicated character drama, the triad actioner is made more appealing by its star-studded cast that includes popular leading men Andy Lau and Alex Man, character actors Ng Man Tat and Shing Fui On, actresses Yao Wei and Regina Kent, and charismatic actor Alan Tang in a special supporting part. When his ex-boss Mr. Brown's son is kidnapped, retired cop Fan (Alex Man) returns from America to help, and he manages to rescue the boy with the aid of Brown's foster son Jack (Andy Lau). Little do they know, however, that the kidnap is the consequence of Brown stealing a huge sum of money belonged to the Japanese mafia. Fan is reunited with ex-girlfriend Shirley (Yao Wei), and Jack falls for her daughter Cindy (Regina Kent). Meanwhile, the enraged Japanese gangsters send assassin Pui (Michael Chan) - Shirley's ex-husband - to Hong Kong to settle the score...
