Chang represents the middle-aged generation while Lan Yueting plays her headstrong daughter and Wu Yanshu plays her father's first wife. Qiu Huiying (Sylvia Chang) is in a particularly irritable and emotional state as she nears retirement and confronts the passing of her mother. Believing that her mother's dying wish is to be buried with her late father, she travels to her father's provincial hometown with her husband (Tian Zhuangzhuang) and daughter Weiwei (Lang Yueting). Huiying wants to move her father's ancestral grave but Nana (Wu Yanshu), her father's first arranged wife, refuses to allow it. Nana has spent her entire life waiting and fulfilling her duties to a husband who left her behind soon after their marriage, and tending the grave is all she has left. Weiwei, who works at a TV station, brings a camera along and begins to make a story out of her mother and Nana's dispute. The lingering conflicts of the older generation shake Weiwei's already rocky relationships with her mother and her boyfriend.
