A finalist of the Ozamu Tezuka cultural prize, Igarashi Daisuke's Little Forest is now a four-part film (one part for each season) by director Mori Junichi ( Laundry ). Hashimoto Ai ( Amachan , Parasyte ) stars as Ichiko, a girl who returns to her village in northeast Japan. Without the convenience of supermarket near her rural home, Ichiko learns to grow her own food and become self-sufficient through the seasons. In Winter , Ichiko uses black rice and sweet wine to make a special tri-color cake. In Spring , she uses fish and cabbage for pasta and soup.
