Hong Kong director Lawrence Lau melds business and romance in the 2013 Chinese drama Day of Redemption . Starring Vic Chou ( Don't Go Breaking My Heart 2 ) and Tong Yao ( The White Haired Witch of Lunar Kingdom ), the film depicts the negotiation between a designer and the company trying to acquire her brand, and how business and romantic interests clash and change over nine hours' time. Lingerie designer Ting (Tong Yao) started her own brand with three friends, but the company is struggling to stay afloat. To save Ting's company and dream, it's critical that they land a contract with Tania. While the four are wrangling with debtors one day, Tania's representatives suddenly show up to talk business. Much to Ting's surprise, one of the representatives is her college boyfriend Ben (Vic Chou), but the free-spirited artist she once loved has become a coldly realistic businessman. More than anyone, Ben should know how important Ting's brand is to her, but instead of collaboration, what he propositions is an acquisition that would essentially phase out her brand.
