Following the blockbuster success of the war drama The Eternal Zero , director Yamazaki Takashi and star Okada Junichi collaborate for the postwar drama Fueled: The Man They Called Pirate , again adapted from a best-selling novel by Hyakuta Naoki. The epic historical drama is based on the life of Idemitsu Sazo, the Rockefeller-esque founder of Japanese petroleum company Idemitsu Kosan. Okada stars as the enterprising protagonist, businessman Kunioka Tetsuzo, who earned the nickname of Pirate while building and expanding his oil business in the early 20th century. After Japan's defeat in WWII left the economy in ruins, Kunioka determinedly set out to rebuild his company despite unfavorable domestic and international conditions. Ayase Haruka ( Our Little Sister ), Yoshioka Hidetaka ( Always: Sunset on Third Street ), Sometani Shota ( Parayste ), Suzuki Ryohei ( Tokyo Tribe ), Tsutsumi Shinichi ( Always: Sunset on Third Street ), Pierre Taki ( Rage ) and Kobayasahi Kaoru ( Midnight Diner ) also co-star in Fueled: The Man They Called Pirate .
