In the early 1980s, then newcomers Leslie Cheung, Danny Chan and Paul Chung co-starred in two films, Encore and On Trial , that earned them the nickname of Three Musketeers. The three soon rose to great fame with Leslie Cheung and Danny Chan emerging as generational pop idols and Paul Chung becoming a top program host at TVB. Look back on the three late stars in the prime of youth in the classic 1981 coming-of-age film On Trial directed by Clarence Fok. Po (Danny Chan) is an introverted rich kid who excels in music, but he lacks the support of his father who thinks more highly of his younger brother Paul (Paul Chung). Po decides to leave home and pursue music on his own. Meanwhile, Po's good friend Wing (Leslie Cheung) comes from a poor family but he lies to his friends about his background. When Po discovers Wing's family situation, it further triggers his inferiority complex. Upon graduation, the three boys each make choices that take them down different paths.
