Veteran rocker Mickey Curtis (credited as Igarashi Shinjiro here) stars as a retiree who finds a new purpose in life when a trio of mediocre engineers needs him to save their failed robot project. The setup becomes the beginning of an unlikely and not-so-beautiful friendship that may change the way you see the elder retiree in your own family. A writer-director obsessed with getting his details right, Yaguchi did so much robotics research for Robo-G that the robot blueprint seen in the film can actually be used to create a real robot! Hiroki (Hamada Gaku), Koji (Chan Kawai), and Shinya (Junya Kawashima) are engineers working at an air conditioning manufacturer ordered to develop a robot to boost the company's reputation. Just before they are due to present their invention, the robot is destroyed in a freak accident. With little time left, the three are forced to go for the last resort: Build a hollow robot suit and put a human being in it. After an audition, the only qualified man for the job is Suzuki (Igarashi Shinjiro), a cranky and lonely retiree who needs the job to kill time. After a public display that puts the robot on the headlines, the three engineers are forced to drag Suzuki on a publicity tour in order to keep up their fa ade. However, their plans are complicated when passionate robotics student Yoko (Yoshitaka Yuriko) is thrown into the mix.Other products from YesAsia |
