Directed by Pecoross' Mother and Her Days screenwriter Akune Tomoaki, the moving drama Hana's Miso Soup is adapted from a best-selling book based on the writers' own experiences of familial love in the face of illness and impending separation. Soon after getting engaged, Chie (Hirosue Ryoko, Key of Life ) is diagnosed with cancer, but her boyfriend Shingo (Takito Kenichi, Prophecy ) determinedly marries her, both aware that she will be unable to have children because of the cancer treatment.
