Horror master Jung Beom Sik ( Epitaph ) produces another horror hit with Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum ! Gonjiam Psychiatric Hospital is known as one of Korea's most famous haunted locales and was even listed as one of the seven freakiest places in the world by CNN. Rumor has it that patients and staff were abruptly found dead in the hospital, which led to its sudden closure in the 1990s. Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum combines found-footage horror with trendy elements like virtual reality, YouTube and live broadcast to create a terrifying new genre of scares. A filming crew explores the haunted Gonjiam Psychiatric Hospital and does a live broadcast of their journey. To boost view rates, the production team plays tricks on the program guests to create a creepy atmosphere. The crew soon encounters a number of paranormal happenings as things spiral out of control.
