A classic romantic drama from Hong Kong, An Autumn's Tale is one of the most memorable films of the 1980s. Directed by famed director Mabel Cheung, it stars Chow Yun Fat and Cherie Chung, and at the time of the film's release they were considered Hong Kong's most romantic on-screen couple. Also starring in the film is late singer Danny Chan. The story deals with two people from different social backgrounds who begin the unlikeliest of romances in a land far from home. With Cheung's meticulous direction, there is an almost fairy-tale like quality to this film. Chow Yun Fat's Boat Head and Cherie Cheung's Lee Kay defined romance for years, and the song played in the film, At the Forest and the Wild, moved many to tears! An Autumn's Tale picked up many awards at the 7th Hong Kong Film Awards, including Best Film, Best Cinematography, Best Screenplay for Alex Law, and Best Actor for Chow Yun Fat.
