One of the representative works of Korean film history, the 1980 classic The Hut was included in the list of 100 films selected by the Korean Film Archive in 2013. Directed by Lee Doo Yong ( The Last Witness ), the mystery drama won prizes at the Daejong Film Awards, Baeksang Arts Awards and Venice Film Festival. Blending suspense, horror, revenge and social drama elements, The Hut tells a tragic family story that draws out the conflict of traditional and modern values in changing times. The Kang family summons shamans from all over the country in hopes of saving their eldest son who has fallen gravely ill. Among them is young shaman priestess Ok Hwa (Yu Ji In). While performing rituals, she finds a vessel buried in a remote place, and tells the family that the spirit within is the cause of the eldest son's plight. A secret story from two decades ago is uncovered, revealing the tragedy and wrath that brought Ok Hwa there.
