Directed by Casey Chan ( I Love You, Mom ), the oddball sports drama Lost in Wrestling strikes a unique formula with its eclectic cast, strange yet earnest story, and kitschy, throwback vibe. Mongolian wrestler Naren (Zhao Ke, Love in Time ) heads to Osaka to participate in a tournament and to look for her childhood friend Chinasi who disappeared to Japan years ago. In Japan, she meets Japanese wrestler Kazuko (Watanabe Naoko, Nude ) and Hong Kong girl Riri (Li Fei'er, Chongqing Blues ), who ran away from home. She also encounters Chinasi, now a reflexologist going by the name Ruonan (William Chan, Triad ), who has no intentions of returning to Mongolia. At the behest of the tournament's mysteriously manic masked host Boss, Naren, Kazuko and Riri form a wrestling team, but then the competition suddenly gets changed to mud wrestling.
