In 2002, he is introduced to leukemia patient Lu Shouyi (Wang Chuanjun), who asks him to help bring in a batch of leukemia treatment drugs from India. The medication from India is significantly cheaper than the medication available in China which is fixed at an unreasonably high price by the pharmaceutical company. Though aware that smuggling medicine is illegal, the financially strapped Cheng Yong takes on the venture to earn quick cash.
