Three legendary female filmmakers of Chinese cinema Sylvia Chang, Li Shaohong and Joan Chen come together for the 2022 anthology film Hero , also known as HerStory . Starring Sammi Cheng, Zhou Xun, Xu Di, Nina Paw, Stephen Fung and Jackson Yee, the film tells the stories of three women in Beijing, Wuhan and Hong Kong in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. In Wuhan, Shen Yue (Zhou Xun) and her mother-in-law (Xu Die) fight and support each other while quarantining sick together during the pandemic. In Beijing, Xiao Lu (Huang Miyi) stays in contact by phone with her boyfriend (Jackson Yee) in Wuhan and helplessly watches his health deteriorate. In Hong Kong, working mother Jing Si (Sammi Cheng) struggles to keep it together while dealing with daily challenges and a fractured relationship with her separated husband (Stephen Fung).
