The film that started it all One of the most iconic franchises of J-horror, Shimizu Takashi's Ju-On film series began in 2000 with the straight-to-video releases Ju-On: The Curse and Ju-On: The Curse 2 , which would later be followed by the famous theatrical film Ju-On: The Grudge in 2002. Starring Kuriyama Chiaki, Miwa Hitomi, Miwa Asumi, Douguchi Yoriko and Yanagi Yurei, Ju-On: The Curse introduces the cursed home that has claimed the lives of many due to the raging grudge of a vengeful spirit. Horror strikes anew in Ju-On: The Curse 2 whose cast includes Yuko Daike, Makoto Ashikawa, Kahori Fujii, Saito Mayuko, Yanagi Yurei and Denden. Though the grudge seems to have been lifted from the Murakami family house, the vicious cycle of terror and tragedy begins again when new residents move in.
