The Monkey King (2014) After Goddess Nuwa (Zhang Zilin) sacrifices herself to save the mortal world, the mischievous Monkey King (Donnie Yen) comes into being from one of her crystals. Powerful and uncontrollable, Monkey King challenges the Jade Emperor (Chow Yun Fat) and causes an uproar in heaven, unwittingly creating an opportunity for the wicked Buffalo Demon King (Aaron Kwok) to wage war in heaven. Featuring the blockbuster cast of Donnie Yen, Chow Yun Fat, Aaron Kwok, Peter Ho, Kelly Chen, Gigi Leung and Joe Chen, the first film of the series is a magnificent adventure and technical spectacle with special effects produced by the Hollywood crew that worked on Avatar as well as the Pirates of the Caribbean and The Lord of the Rings series. The Monkey King 3 (2018) After getting on the wrong side of a river god (Lin Chi Ling), Xuanzang (William Feng) and his disciples Wukong (Aaron Kwok), Baijie (Xiao Shenyang) and Wujing (Him Law) inadvertently wander into Womanland, a cloistered kingdom populated only by women. Since the founding of Womanland, no man had ever stepped foot into the kingdom before, and ancestral teachings decree men to be the greatest enemy. Prophecies warn that the arrival of a monk and a monkey from the East will one day bring about the downfall of Womanland and its Queen. However, the Queen (Zhao Liying) falls head over heels for Xuanzang.
