One of the leading directors of the Taiwan New Wave, late auteur Edward Yang left an indelible mark on Taiwanese cinema with his too-brief filmography. Starring Tsai Chin, fellow New Wave director Hou Hsiao Hsien and Wu Nien Jen, Yang's second feature film Taipei Story depicts a woman navigating her present and future in a city caught between the present and past. Chin (Tsai Chin) and her boyfriend Lung (Hou Hsiao Hsien) have been seeing each other for a long time. Lung runs a fabric shop and holds rather old-fashioned values and ways of doing things. Chin, who works at an architectural firm, has a more modern lifestyle and mindset. However, Chin later gets laid off due to company restructuring, and Lung can't move on from his past as a baseball player. As each struggles with the challenges of life and livelihood, they also begin to drift apart. This edition comes with Edward Yang tribute video and trailers.
