Doi Nobuhiro ( Be With You ) directs the award-winning human suspense film The Voice of Sin , based on the best-selling novel Tsumi no Koe by Shiota Takeshi. Oguri Shun ( Gintama ) and singer-actor Hoshino Gen ( Samurai Shifters ) team up to unravel a painful mystery inspired by true events that occurred over three decades ago. The film is scripted by Nogi Akiko, the screenwriter of hit TV dramas like Unnatural and We Married as a Job . Newspaper reporter Akutsu Eiji (Oguri Shun) is working on a special report of an unsolved case that shook Japan 35 years ago. Back then, a mysterious group engineered a shocking series of crimes targeting food companies that involved extortion, kidnapping and poisoning. The perpetrators sent cassette tapes with recordings of their demands. After attracting widespread police and media attention, the criminals disappeared and the statute of limitations for the case eventually expired. Sone Toshiya (Hoshino Gen) runs a tailor shop and lives happily with his family in Kyoto. One day, he finds an old cassette tape among his late father's belongings. The voice on the tape Sone's voice is the same voice that appeared in the tapes from the unsolved crimes.
