Known for healing films like Kamome Diner and Close-Knit , writer-director Ogigami Naoko adapts her own novel into the film Riverside Mukolitta set in a small rustic town. Matsuyama Kenichi, Muro Tsuyoshi, Mitsushima Hikari and Yoshioka Hidetaka star in this quirky and warm drama that gently explores life and death. Yamada (Matsuyama Kenichi) finds a job at a salted fish factory in a small town in the Hokuriku region. At the owner's recommendation, he starts living in an old apartment. Yamada, who arrived almost penniless, enjoys the small pleasures in life like having a well-chilled milk after a bath. One day, his neighbor Shimada (Muro Tsuyoshi) appears and asks to borrow his bath. Yamada wanted to live as quietly as possible without getting involved with other people. However, from that day on, he begins to interact more with the residents, and his heart gradually begins to open up.
