Blockbuster coming-of-age film My Best Friend's Breakfast is based on a viral essay posted on the Taiwan social networking site Dcard that has already inspired a novel and comic. Directed by Golden Bell-winning writer-director Ryan Tu, the school romance stars Moon Lee ( Terrorizers ) and singer-songwriter Eric Chou in his silver-screen debut. My Best Friend's Breakfast gently brings out the sweet and bittersweet flavors of first love, youth and growing up. High school student Xiang Wei Xin (Moon Lee) thinks of eating as the most important and most comforting thing in life. One day, Wei Xin is short on money at the convenience store, and upperclassman Tao You Quan (Eric Chou) steps in to pay for her beloved pineapple bun. The next day, she sees You Quan struggling to break up with his cheating girlfriend. To return the favor, Wei Xin uses her best friend Fang Qi Ran (Jean Ho) as an excuse to help him successfully break up. From that day on, Qi Ran begins to receive two breakfasts from suitors. She gives the food to Wei Xin, who is more than happy to eat it. At the same time, Wei Xin gives in to the requests of guitar club president Zhang Yuan Shuo (Edison Song) to do a performance.
