Jackie Chan returns to Hong Kong cinema in this 21st century update to his classic Police Story action series. Though New Police Story does not feature the usual Jackie character of Kevin Chan Ka Kui, any viewer will know this can only be a Jackie Chan Police Story film! The action film employs the techniques director Benny Chan is famed for: chaotic situations, large explosions, and detailed characters. The plot is tense and rapid, with one explosive scene after another, yet never loses its human touch. We get to see a rare side of Jackie, as a man wrecked with guilt, as well as a loving husband to the character played by Charlie Young, finally returning to the big screen after a long hiatus. Besides starring, Jackie Chan takes on the role of action choreographer with Lee Chi Chung to create the stunning fight scenes that make a Police Story film so memorable. Onscreen, he teams up with a new generation of young stars, including Daniel Wu as the leader of a gang of wealthy young criminals who kill cops for fun, and Nicholas Tse as the protege, a young cop who helps Jackie Chan's character get back on his feet.
